Description
Historically the purchase of grid electricity has been one of Council's largest emissions sources. On July 1st 2021, Indigo (as part of the Victorian Electricity Collaboration) switched to a long-term renewable electricity Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for our public streetlight, small and large market electricity accounts.
VECO has dramatically reduced Council's emissions associated with electricity use, as well as reducing cost.
A small number of supply points have been excluded from VECO due to non-contestable supply to a number of meters. Options to remove emissions arising from these meters need to be investigated.
