OBJECTIVE
IMPACT
MediumHelp to facilitate the installation of public EV chargers in Indigo Shire.
Description
We are supporting the transition to low emissions travel through facilitating the installation of public EV chargers by third parties on Council land.
Council doesn't own and operate public EV chargers. However, we do support installation of public EV chargers on Council land by qualified third parties who are willing to enter a licence agreement.
In 2022, Indigo Shire welcomed its first public 50kW EV charger - located at the Yackandandah Senior Citizens Centre. This achievement was a collaborative effort, led by Totally Renewable Yackandandah (TRY), Indigo Power, and Yackandandah Community Development Corporation (YCDco).
In 2023, Council teamed up with Evie Networks to install three 50kW public EV chargers across the shire.
The first Evie Networks chargers was installed in Beechworth (Burke Museum) in September 2023. In May 2024, two more chargers were installed in Chiltern (Chiltern Community Hub) and Rutherglen (Murray St carpark).
Evie Network chargers are equipped with both CHAdeMO and CCS2 connectors, and their system is compatible with all electric cars on the Australian market including Tesla Model 3/S/X, Nissan Leaf, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Ioniq.
