Description
Indigo Shire Council is a proud partner of the Goulburn Murray Solar Savers (GMSS) program in 2024/25.

- Solar PV systems
- Solar batteries
- Heat pumps
- Heating & cooling systems

By installing rooftop solar, batteries, heat pumps and heating and cooling systems through GMSS, residents and businesses in participating Councils can reduce energy bills and future-proof against increasing energy costs, while supporting a transition to renewable energy.
GMSS uses a fully vetted supplier - Specialised Solar & Electrical - who has undergone numerous quality checks on their products and customer services. Specialized Solar will be working with AmpForce Solar and Electrical, a respected local company with offices in Wodonga and Shepparton.
All products have been chosen for their quality, durability and performance to give customers peace of mind when considering an upgrade.
GMSS' energy specialists have independently vetted installers, and products in order to offer residents and business quality and affordable rooftop solar systems, hot water heat pumps, batteries and reverse cycle heating and cooling systems.
GMSS is a regional offshoot of the metropolitan 'Solar Savers' program (running since 2018), joining an existing Solar Savers tender and contract with Specialised Solar which ends in 2026. Doing so has saved ratepayers money due to reduced administrative costs of setting up a new program from scratch.
The GMSS program aims to make it easier and more affordable for residents (homeowners and renters) and businesses to install solar PV and storage systems, heat pumps and HVAC systems.
Did you know that around half of Indigo Shire dwellings don't have solar.
According to the Australian PV Institute, 51.9% of all dwellings in Indigo Shire have installed rooftop solar. This includes 4,276 residential and 170 commercial dwellings.
Below are the current percentages of dwellings with rooftop solar in Indigo shire towns:
- 64.5% - Yackandandah
- 58.4% - Barnawartha
- 50.3% - Beechworth
- 48.8% - Chiltern
- 47.4% - Rutherglen
