Waste from Council's offices, depots and customer service centres produces a significant amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
In our baseline year (FY 2019/20), workplace waste contributed 5% of our total emissions.
Scope 3 emissions (upstream) from waste are generated at offices, depots, customer service centres, and other facilities that we operate. It does not include residential and commercial waste, which is not part of our emissions profile and Net Zero target.
These emissions come from waste heading to landfill and organic waste.
